Madison Plan Commission members approved two ambitious development plans for the downtown area Monday.
A four-story building is slated for construction at 601 W. Wilson St., a heavily student-populated area just west of the Capitol. The building will replace an existing structure and is expected to cover 45,000 square feet when finished.
The building will belong to the National Conference of Bar Examiners, which is planning to add around 30 employees to its staff.
In addition, construction is expected to begin shortly on a renovation of the Associated Bank building directly across the street from the Overture Center at 202 State St. Redevelopment plans call for the addition of a fourth story to the building, as well as the demolition of another building currently in place at the site.
