The state Senate approved a bill Wednesday that would impose life in prison for the most heinous of sex crimes toward children.
The bill's author, state Sen. Mary Lazich, R-New Berlin, said life imprisonment is the only way to fully punish these types of criminals.
Every day, we hear horror stories of sexually violent persons kidnapping, molesting and killing innocent, young children,\ Lazich said in a statement. ""Life in prison is a just, reasonable and fitting punishment for criminals who commit these heinous sex crimes. It is time to put them away for good.""
The bill is being sent to the state Assembly for consideration.
