New UW program to offer overseas internships

UW-Madison announced Monday it will pilot a new program offering international internships to undergraduates.

A University statement said 10 UW-Madison students will be given the opportunity to intern with international companies for eight weeks beginning this summer.

The program, officially titled the International Academic Internships Initiative, will involve European, African and Asian companies and non-governmental organizations.

Students in the IAII, which is supported in part by the Division of International Studies and the School of Business, can earn up to three credits for participation.

Companies participating in the fledgling program include SC Johnson, based in Racine, Wis., Central Japan Railway Company and the Toshiba Corporation.
