Madison police arrest suspect in string of fires on the city's north side after early a.m. blaze

Police are currently holding a 21-year-old Madison man on arson charges stemming from a series of fires on the city's north side.

According to MPD Public Information Officer Mike Hanson, Joshua Bingham was involved in three other fires on the north side in recent weeks.

Hanson said firefighters responding to a call early Monday morning spotted Bingham running next to a burning house on the 1000 block of Melvin Court.

Police later arrested Bingham and took him into custody on suspicion of arson. Hanson said no one was injured in the Monday morning fire or in any of the other north side blazes.

Bingham, who is from Madison, will likely face felony charges when he appears in court.
