Madison ranked best city in the Midwest for getting a job

Madison is the top metro area in the Midwest in terms of new jobs, according to the annual Milken Institute Best Performing Cities index.

The city ranks 35th in the nation, joining other Wisconsin cities such as Milwaukee (137th) and Green Bay (99th) in the index.

However, nine of the 10 worst cities for new jobs are also in the Midwest, with four in Ohio and five in Michigan, including Cleveland and Detroit.
