UW System Board of Regents President David Walsh responded Wednesday to criticism of the UW System after three legislators sent him a letter calling for a new investigation of UW employment policies and practices.
Walsh accused the lawmakers of playing politics and criticized their use of releasing information to the press and public instead of contacting him or other UW officials directly.
'The people, the students, and their families?? deserve at least an effort from you to engage in constructive dialogue,' Walsh said.
Reps. Stephen Nass, R-Palmyra; Scott Suder, R-Abbotsford; and Robin Kreibich, R-Eau Claire; sent out a statement Oct. 31 expressing their outrage regarding UW System President Kevin Reilly's assertion that he was aware of the Barrows scandal since its beginning.
The state Legislative Audit Bureau is currently auditing the UW System in a move that was sparked by recent questions regarding the sick leave and employment status of former UW Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Paul Barrows.
Barrows was placed on sick leave for seven months in a move that was later determined to be against UW policy.
