Associated Students of Madison Shared Governance Chair Eyal Halamish announced his resignation Wednesday. He openly spoke about his disappointment with the direction ASM is heading.
'Student government needs to represent students. It's not a business to run,' Halamish said. 'We've lost that vision of representing the student voice.'
Though Halamish stated his intention to resignation at Wednesday's meeting, he said he may not be stepping down immediately.
'I don't want to just leave a shit storm and have everyone mad at me, so my resignation will happen some time between now and the end of the semester,' Halamish said.
Halamish added that a failed vision was not the only reason for walking out on the student council.
Other meeting topics included ASM's internal budget and a textbook recommendation to professors. Representatives from the Academic Affairs Committee presented the proposal, which could help establish a textbook rental program.
