News Brief

A complaint filed yesterday detailed the circumstances of alleged encounters between UW basketball player Maurice \Boo"" Wade and a woman who accused him of battery in an incident last month.

The sophomore guard has been charged with bail-jumping for violating the terms of his bond, which forbade all contact with the victim.

According to the complaint, Wade and the 19-year-old woman allegedly spoke on several occasions, including once four days after he was released on bail, often heatedly discussing the case. The victim told Madison Police that the week of Feb. 15, she spent the night at Wade's apartment after receiving a call from him.

""Obviously this is a young woman who wants to have contact with him, so I think she's on his side, so to speak,"" said Marcus Jens Berghahn, an attorney for Wade.

The latest bail-jumping charge will be tracked separately from the previous charge.
