Concern over Wisconsin's waterways

As an out-of-state student, one of the big draws to the UW-Madison was the beauty of its location. The lakes were a big influence on my decision when it came to narrowing down my options.

It really makes me concerned to know that the waterways I love so much are really in jeopardy. Wisconsin's waters are being polluted and the laws to protect them are not being enforced. About one-third of Wisconsin industries are polluting above their legal limit and only 4 percent of those polluters are being prosecuted. Wisconsin needs to step up and start enforcing the laws that are already in place. Cooperation between government officials and concerned citizens will be able to make Wisconsin's water safe for our enjoyment and for future generations.
