The Madison Police Department reported that two people were robbed at gunpoint on West Gilman Street at 2 a.m. Monday morning.
Described as 5 ft. 8 in. in height and about 150 lbs., the robber, a white male between 20 and 25 years old, was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans when he committed the crime.
The victims, two unidentified individuals, were walking along Gilman Street's 400 block when the man appeared, demanding money as he wielded a handgun. The victims gave the man their wallets, after which he fled the scene of the crime.
Though the two victims were unharmed, the assailant remains
at large.
Several UW-Madison students confiscated a laundry cart from The Towers residence hall, 502 N. Frances St., Saturday at 1:30 a.m.
After pushing the cart to the top of Bascom Hill, the students attempted to ride down the hill's sidewalk in the cart. Upon reaching the Law Library building, one male student was ejected from the cart and took a severe blow to his head against the pavement.
The student was admitted to a local hospital after UW Police and Madison Fire Rescue officials appeared at the scene. The subject of the incident suffered life-threatening head injuries, but as of Monday morning was believed to be in good condition.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
No charges are expected to be pressed after Saturday morning's incident, but police discouraged others from following suit.
