Crouch to leave St. Louis

Eric Crouch, the 2001 Heisman Trophy winner who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams April 20, will end his career early.

Coaches in St. Louis converted Crouch, a former quarterback for Nebraska, to wide receiver. Crouch, however, suffered injuries and could not play at the level he used to, according to ESPN.

Crouch, who had signed a three-year, $1.3 million contract with a signing bonus of $395,000, made the decision Sept. 6, prior to the Rams' regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos.
