Eric Crouch, the 2001 Heisman Trophy winner who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams April 20, will end his career early.
Coaches in St. Louis converted Crouch, a former quarterback for Nebraska, to wide receiver. Crouch, however, suffered injuries and could not play at the level he used to, according to ESPN.
Crouch, who had signed a three-year, $1.3 million contract with a signing bonus of $395,000, made the decision Sept. 6, prior to the Rams' regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos.

Crouch holds the NCAA career record for quarterback rushing touchdowns with 59. He also had 29 touchdown passes and only 25 interceptions.
