The state hiring freeze and the looming budget deficit has caused the Wisconsin State Historical Museum, 30 N. Carroll St., to consider cost-saving measures, including shortening hours.
The museum, operated by the Wisconsin State Historical Society, is planning on reducing its Sunday hours and opening an hour later Tuesday through Saturday.
The effects of the budget deficit are being felt throughout the state, but the cut in service hours will dramatically affect the museum, according to museum Director Ann Koski.
