Wisconsin National Guard members will once again receive full reimbursement for college and technical school tuition, thanks to a bill signed into law by Gov. Scott McCallum Thursday.
The state budget passed by the legislature last summer had reduced the reimbursement rate to 85 percent of tuition costs, leading to a McCallum veto of the rate cut, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
\Since Sept. 11, we've quite rightly seen renewed appreciation and gratitude for all those who serve in the military and the National Guard,"" McCallum said in a Journal Sentinel report. ""That appreciation is reflected in the bills I am proud to sign today.""
Among other items, McCallum also authorized legislation designating April 9 as Prisoners of War Remembrance Day.
