The Wisconsin Senate voted unanimously to confirm UW-Whitewater student Tommie L. Jones as the student representative on the UW System Board of Regents Tuesday.
Jones, a Milwaukee native, had been recommended for confirmation by all seven members of the Senate Committee on Universities, Housing and Government Operations earlier this month. His term as the sole representative of UW System students on the Board of Regents runs through May 1, 2003.
Jones' confirmation came after his predecessor, UW-Madison student Joe Alexander, served an entire term on the board without ever receiving the sanction of the Senate. A vote on his confirmation never managed to reach the Senate floor during his term.
