The air space over Camp Randall Stadium could become a no-fly zone Sept. 29 if a request by UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley is honored by authorities.
'I believe in the aftermath of our national tragedy that it would be extremely upsetting to people seated in Camp Randall Stadium to witness aircraft circulating the stadium within a minimal distance of 500 to 1,000 feet,' Wiley said in a UW-Madison news release.
UW Police are also assessing whether any other security changes will be implemented.
'I want to reassure people that there is significant preparation and coordination before each of our home football games,' UW Police Chief Sue Riseling said in a statement. 'Any changes requiring the cooperation of our Badger fans will be communicated next week in a timely fashion.'
The stadium will reopen for a 1 p.m. kickoff versus Western Kentucky Sept. 29.
