The UW System celebrated inclusivity and diversity by honoring women of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community for their achievements Monday.
The annual award is given to students, faculty, staff or community members that played an integral role in creating inclusive and diverse spaces not only in the UW
The system awarded five recipients the 2018 Outstanding Women of Color in Education Award to recognize their impressive efforts to promote inclusion and equity on campuses. The award has been given to over 375 women of color since 1995.

The honorees will be formally recognized in tandem with those in the LGBTQ+ community who received the Dr. P.B. Poorman Award for Outstanding Achievement.
This year celebrates the 10th anniversary the award has acknowledged those who create a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Since 2008, 20 LGBTQ+ individuals and allies have received the award for their contributions to advocacy, activism or scholarship that improves the climate for LGBTQ+ people and strengthen their experiences on campus.
