Three people were arrested in Madison this weekend in separate incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Madison Police Department incident reports.
Travis Walsh, a 30-year-old Madison resident, was arrested for operating while intoxicated at approximately 4:03 a.m. Saturday, after he was found at Kelley’s Market on West Washington Avenue slumped in the driver’s seat of his car with the engine still running. It was Walsh’s fifth drunk driving offense.
In a separate incident, Brian Doyle, a 27-year-old Stoughton resident, was arrested at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday after running a red light at the corner of West Johnson and North Bassett Streets and crashing into a Madison police car.
A police officer who was in the squad car was treated at the hospital for several non-life-threatening injuries, including a concussion.
Responding officers found Doyle still in his car, which was on a sidewalk near the scene of the crash. Police described Doyle as “agitated and aggressive,” and he was arrested for causing injury, operating while intoxicated, red signal violation and resisting/obstructing.
Finally, Travis Knapp, age 41 and from Madison, was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a two-car crash at the corner of Commercial Avenue and North Sprecher Road Sunday evening.
Witnesses told police the victim, a 23-year-old Madison man, was turning onto North Sprecher Road at approximately 5:50 p.m. when his car was struck. The arrest was Knapp’s fifth for driving under the influence.
