Science expose set for April 14

Two dozen venues around UW-Madison will offer the public an opportunity to learn about the university’s labs, museums and researchers April 14 during the 10th annual Science Expedition.

Lasting from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the event will include more than 40 hands-on science stations, including one presenting a hovercraft-like machine and another where scientists who have visited the South Pole  will discuss their expeditions.

The Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery will lead the expose, providing tours and showcasing events.

Other venues include the Biochemical Sciences Building where  scientists will offer tours of the  newly renovated facility as well as Birge Hall, where visitors can learn about the life of a botanist.

Additionally, the Chazen Museum of Art will host a tour on the science of art conservation.

A free trolley running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. will connect the venues and provide rides to parking.

All events are free except for those at the Madison Children’s Museum, which will charge an admissions fee.
