The No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers (20-2, 12-2) have returned home after a two-week long road trip around the Midwest for a weekend of Big Ten matches. On Friday, the Badgers will play a highly anticipated rematch against the Purdue Boilermakers, and on Sunday, they will face the Northwestern Wildcats (11-14, 6-8), one of the teams they swept last weekend.

Last October, the NCAA announced that they would be granting all Division I fall and winter sport athletes an extra year of eligibility, regardless of whether they competed in the 2020-21 season.

While the cheers in the Wisconsin Field House were fake, the energy on the court as the Badgers swept the Boilermakers in three sets last night was very real. No 1. Wisconsin (1-0) defeated No. 13 Purdue (0-1) 25-14, 25-15, 25-16 by playing big at the net and staying consistent in their passing game.

After a COVID-19 related delay to their fall season, there is lots of excitement surrounding the Badgers’ return to the court this year. While there may not be any fans at the Wisconsin Field House this Friday to watch their first match of the season against Purdue, Badger fans are sure to be tuning in, hoping to watch their first-ranked team dominate the court.
