Head coach Mark Johnson stressed after practice Thursday he would find out where his team is at during this point of the season after the weekend series with WCHA rival Minnesota, and he certainly found out his team can put up a fight against a superior team. Despite that, the No.10 Wisconsin women's hockey team (6-6-2 WCHA, 10-6-2 overall) was swept by the No.1 Gophers (12-0-0, 18-0-0) Saturday and Sunday by scores of 4-1 and 2-0, respectively.

INDIANAPOLIS—When No. 14 Nebraska (10-2 overall, 7-1 Big Ten) and Wisconsin (7-5, 4-4) square off here tonight, an appearance in the Rose Bowl will be on the line. I’ll admit it; I don’t really know how I feel about Julia Holter. On one hand, she sounds like Joanna Newsom’s ghost haunting a church in the year 3000, which is kind of a double-edged sword. Her first album, last year’s Tragedy (an able rival to Hello Sadness for the least subtly titled record of the year), was a little gem of that straddled the fine line between doomed pop and menacing drone-dance music being played several miles underwater. Apparently having learned a lesson or two last year, she’s recently put out her sophomore album, the infinitely more frustratingly titled Ekstasis.
