Wisconsin head coach Lisa Stone had two things to celebrate
Sunday afternoon as the Wisconsin women's basketball team (5-4 Big
Ten, 16-6 overall) defeated Minnesota 70-57 at the Kohl Center in
front of a crowd of 15,269 people. Stone donated 25 cents per fan
in attendance to the Gilda's Club Madison, a nonprofit cancer
foundation, for the ‘Raise the Roof' event. Stone was impressed
with the crowd turnout and decided to donate a total of $4,285.50
to match a sellout crowd. This number was matched by the American
Transmission Company, and Bucky's Locker Room also donated $2,000,
for a grand total of over $10,000.

the season after trailing at halftime. Michigan (1-7, 8-13) was
tripped up early in the second half and was unable to fight its way

After UW-Green Bay (6-3) pulled ahead late in the first half,
Wisconsin (10-2) was not able to narrow the Phoenix lead until it
was too late. The Badgers fell Wednesday night at the Resch Center
by the score of 70-66. This was the Badgers' second loss of the
season, both disappointments coming on the road.

The Boston University Center on Wealth and Philanthropy recently
released a study ranking states in order of charitable giving based
on the percentage of income. Wisconsin came in at an embarrassing
40th place. One has only to look as far as the Dane County
Salvation Army to see evidence of this lack of charity: This year,
the number of families in need of their help is up, yet volunteers
are low.
