Fans of “Rick and Morty,” myself included, may not have expected the duo to return Logic’s favor of a brief cameo, as he did last season on the popular show. The grandfather-grandson duo announced last week that Logic was dropping a sequel to his well-received Bobby Tarantino mixtape that would be “Good ol’ Atlanta-style club rap.”

In my opinion, “UnReal” is one of TV’s hidden gems. It was perhaps the first show that brought serious attention to Lifetime, as the network was formerly known to air cheesy, made-for-TV movies or “Dance Moms.” “UnReal” follows two female producers, Quinn and Rachel, of a “The Bachelor” parody program called “Everlasting.” They manipulate the contestants of the show, as well as their co-workers, for the sake of good ratings. We’ve found these two ladies back at it for the season three premiere, letting us know their reign is still strong.

Declan McKenna first caught the world’s attention, and my own, for his 2015 hit, “Brazil.” The song was written in protest of the worldwide soccer organization, FIFA, and their awarding of the 2014 FIFA World Cup to Brazil. This required the country to build new stadiums — which cost millions of dollars — despite many Brazilians living in poverty.

Expectations were high as I waited outside of the Orpheum Theater last Wednesday, excited to see what Mat Kearney would perform for his stop in Madison. His last album, Just Kids came out in 2015 and his last well-known hit, “Ships in the Night” dropped nearly eight years ago. I was curious to see what Kearney’s performance would unveil and I was pleasantly surprised — though he has new music, the same relaxed and upbeat songs were still there.

Keys N Krates stole the stage last Wednesday, March 7, at the Majestic with their classic trap bass and beats. The Canadian trio consisting of Greg Dawson, Adam Tune and David Matisse are on tour for their recent album, CURA. Though most electronic shows consist of a producer behind a laptop, Keys N Krates introduced a unique element of live performance throughout their set.

As the most baffling game in the most baffling series ever made, “Metal Gear Survive” has reasonable claim to the title of “Weirdest Game Ever.” But break down the forces behind its creation, and it suddenly becomes one of the most sensical, cynical business decisions made in the video game industry.

2018 has been Donald Glover’s year. Or maybe it’s been our year since we get to enjoy Donald Glover? In any case, whether it’s winning a Grammy in January or landing the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo prequel, Glover has been on fire.

“Get Out” proves it is possible to combine sharp humor with genuine terror. Jordan Peele created a horror movie that attracts a variety of audiences, but he was looking to do more than just provide entertainment. His Oscar-winning screenplay also offers a deep-seeded social critique on modern-day racism, and it is already a classic.

Most people know Walk the Moon from their acclaimed, overplayed pop hit “Shut Up and Dance.” If you don’t know the tune, you must have done a pretty good job at avoiding every radio station for the past four years.

This year's Academy Awards, which are hosted again by Jimmy Kimmel, hope to shine a spotlight on the best films of 2017 during a time of intense controversy within the industry. The #MeToo movement has dominated all discussions regarding entertainment in the past few months thanks to the silence breakers who came forward with assault allegations against Hollywood’s biggest names, including James Franco, Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein. With the political and social nature of awards season in mind, it’s time to figure out who will win the top prizes and the nominees who truly deserve them.
