Gameday Distributors


Need some promotional experience in the field to add to your resume?
Daily Cardinal Promotions is looking for motivated individuals to help distribute its feature Gameday inserts around Camp Randall and Engineering Mall during home football games. No commitment required to number of games you'd like to help out. This position is voluntary.

We still need volunteers for the following dates:
- 10/31/09 vs. Purdue
- 11/14/09 vs. Michigan
Must be available to attend bi-monthly meetings
Position starts as soon as hired. Requires a semester long commitment.

Marketing & Promotions Intern


As a Marketing and Promotions Intern for the Daily Cardinal, you will have the unique opportunity to work in a corporate environment that supports and encourages students to learn through experience. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist Marketing Director in competitor research
- Work on local and national promotions to develop brand awareness
- Create and distribute promotional materials
- Assist in planning and execution of events and contests
- Perform various other tasks as instructed by the Marketing Director

This position is unpaid.
5-10 hours per week.
Must be available to attend bi-monthly Marketing meetings.

Accounts Receivable Manager


This paid position is ideal for students majoring in business and looking to add relevant work experience to their resume. As the accounts receivable manager for the Daily Cardinal Media Corporation, UW-Madison’s student newspaper, you will have the unique opportunity to work in a corporate environment that supports and encourages students to learn through experience. Duties include but are not limited to:

-Process incoming payments by updating computer database and deposit slips
-Process credit card payments
-Deposit checks at M&I Bank (main & carroll) every 1-2 weeks or upon request of Business Manager
-Manage overdue outstanding receivables on a weekly basis by making phone calls, invoicing late fees, and sending out past due notices
-Maintain a log of progress in collecting overdue receivables
-Check business voicemail and respond to customers in a timely manner
-Report problems immediately to the Business Manger and provide weekly updates
-Reporting to and maintaining close contact with the Business Manager
-Completing special initiatives assigned by the Business Manager
-Receiving mail and distributing accordingly
-Journalize transactions in general journal and proper ledger accounts
-Problem solving skills for  complications arising out of miscommunication

5-8 hours per week, must be available during business hours. Salary: $10/issue

Convenient on campus location at Vilas Hall

Position starts January 25, 2009, but may need to be available sooner for training. Semester long commitment required. Two semester commitment preferred.

No specific major or experience required, business  or relative majors preferred. Desire to learn and ability to work and communicate in teams is essential. Experience in filemaker pro and Microsoft Excel a plus.
