The Interfraternity Council meeting to hear an appeal from the UW-Madison chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi, originally scheduled for Wednesday night, has been changed to Oct. 8.

The rescheduled appeal regards the fraternity’s suspension for alleged hazing last spring.

“For unforeseen circumstances, we had to postpone the meeting until Monday,” said Drew Willert, IFC President.

The frat was suspended in May for the 2007-’08 academic year following an anonymous report of alleged hazing.

Jared Steinberg, AEPi’s president, said new members denied any such occurrence of hazing when questioned by the AEPi national office in the spring.

No specific allegations have been released by the frat or IFC.

According to the Greek Judicial Board’s website, bylaws state that if the IFC votes to overturn the suspension decision, the Board will determine any further disciplinary actions. Bylaws allow the Board five school days to issue its decision.

If the appeal is denied, the fraternity’s suspension will begin immediately, and the frat would not be allowed to rush or initiate any new members, hold social or brotherhood events or participate in Greek-sponsored philanthropies for the remainder of the suspension.
