By: The Daily Cardinal /The Daily Cardinal  - April 28, 2008

A Madison man was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly crashed his 2004 GMC Denali into UW-Madison’s Mechanical Engineering building while intoxicated.

According to a University of Wisconsin police report, Seth R. Collins, a 23-year-old Madison resident, allegedly drove into the building around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

After he fled the scene, UWPD arrested Collins while he tried to steal a bicycle near the intersection of North Mills Street and University Avenue.

Collins was treated for minor injuries at UW Hospital and was released, tentatively charged with reckless driving, hit and run causing property damage and his second offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, among other charges.

According to the police report, the Denali sustained about $35,000 in damage, and the campus building and surrounding areas sustained moderate damage.
