An elderly man was stabbed early Thursday morning near the UW-Madison campus.

Police were dispatched to the 200 block of State Street at around 1:15 a.m. on Thursday morning in response to a reported stabbing.

The MPD located and arrested Harryl C. Ammons, 57, on a tentative charge of second-degree reckless endangerment.

Officers arrived on the scene and saw the 70-year-old victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound in his left torso area, Madison Police Department Sgt. Nathan Becker said in an incident report.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and interviewed, Becker said, but he wouldn’t cooperate with the investigation.
