One of Madison’s most popular destinations will be re-opening for the summer Thursday, providing another boost for students enjoying the recent spell of warm weather.
The Memorial Union Terrace will kick off its 2017 summer season with a set of opening day festivities from 2 to 5 p.m. for students, staff and community members.
Before the Terrace officially opens, guests are invited to line up on North Park Street for the opportunity to carry one of the distinctive Sunburst chairs onto the terrace. The UW Marching Band will be in attendance to provide musical accompaniment.
Thursday’s celebration marks the beginning of a summer season that will feature an expanded slate of activities and programming, including film screenings on Sunday and Monday nights, and a classical music series.
The opening day events and summer programming are designed to attract long-time terrace attendees along with new visitors.
