Man breaks into downtown hospital, batters nurse

A man was arrested over the weekend after breaking into a downtown hospital and battering a nurse, Madison Police Department said Monday.

Michael R. Jarocki, 24, of Oshkosh, Wis., faces tentative charges of battery, damage to property and disorderly conduct, MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain said in an incident report.

DeSpain said Jarocki forced open a door to Select Specialty Hospital, located at 801 Braxton Place, around 2:40 a.m. Saturday. Jarocki threatened the nurse and put his hands around her neck. The two ended up wrestling on the floor until a security guard arrived and placed Jarocki in handcuffs.

Jarocki’s motives were unclear, DeSpain said, but the nurse reported smelling alcohol on his breath.
