Grant applications for food access projects to be open until late February

Applications for SEED grants, city-funded subsidies designed to support emerging food access projects and programs in the Madison community, will be open until the last week of February, according to city officials.

Organizations working to make healthy food more accessible locally are eligible to apply for one grant of up to $10,000.

A pre-submission meeting for interested applicants will be held Jan. 31 at the Catholic Multicultural Center near Park Street. Applications are found on the City of Madison website and can be submitted online or in-person at the Mayor’s Office by Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.

Decisions will be announced in March after applications are evaluated by a subcommittee of the Madison City Food Council.

SEED grants are sponsored by the Madison Food Policy Council, which received $50,000 of grant funds in this year’s city budget.
