Boy possibly breaks leg on Regent Street

A 14-year-old boy walking across Regent Street at Brooks Street suffered a “possible” broken leg early Friday morning, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

“Witnesses said the child left a crosswalk on Regent St. while trying to cross at Brooks St. and cut into a traffic lane where he ran into the rear driver's side of the truck, which was outbound on Regent St,” MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in the report.

The boy bounced off the truck and fell into the street, when the trailer rolled over one of his legs. He then used his arms to pull himself out of the street before being taken to the hospital. MPD did not cite the driver, according to the report.

He appeared to be trying to catch a bus when the trailer rolled over his leg.
