Man slashed with box cutter during incident at west side bar

A man was hospitalized after his arm was slashed with a box cutter early Sunday morning during a disturbance at a bar on Madison’s west side, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Bouncers at Legends Sports Bar were attempting to detain Sidney R. Ivy at approximately 1:20 a.m. when his companion, Philippa P. Miles, produced a box cutter and used it to cut the arm of a man at the bar.

Bar patrons administered aid to the victim as Ivy and Miles were held by bouncers until the police arrived. Ivy was arrested for causing a disturbance and Miles for injuring the victim.

The box cutter produced a “significant laceration” on the victim’s upper arm, according to the incident report. He underwent surgery at a local hospital and his condition is not known.
