A Madison Police Department officer arrested two male teenagers suspected in two armed robberies near the intersection of Lake Street and University Avenue Tuesday evening.
One suspect stole a phone out of the victim’s hand while in the downtown area, according to an incident report.
After responding to the first incident, MPD then received a second call about a similar incident that had occurred nearby, Sgt. Paul Jacobsen wrote in the report.
The victims in each incident reportedly provided police with a description of the two suspects. An officer then observed and contacted the 16-year-old and 17-year-old suspects near the bus stop on the 400 block of State Street.
MPD arrested the suspects for theft upon finding both stolen phones in their possession, according to the report. The report does not indicate what type of weapon the suspects used.
