Starbucks Window

An intoxicated suspect broke the window of the Starbucks coffee shop on State Street Sunday night, according to Madison police.

Suspect throws concrete piece through window of Starbucks on State Street

An "angry" suspect threw a large piece of concrete through the front window of the Starbucks coffee shop on State Street Sunday night before being apprehended by Madison police, according to an incident report.

Starbucks employees reported asking the suspect to leave after he had harassed patrons and caused a disturbance. After some vulgar parting words, the suspect picked up a piece of concrete outside the building and threw it through the window. No customers were harmed by the projectile or the broken glass, the report said.

Concerned onlookers kept track of the suspect and directed Madison police to his location in a nearby parking ramp upon their arrival, MPD reported. Police took the suspect into custody, at which time the suspect told officers, "Joan of Arc made me do it."

Starbucks staff said Monday the building will remain open for its regularly scheduled business hours despite the disturbance.
