UW-Madison student beaten and robbed near campus

A UW-Madison student was attacked and robbed late Saturday night by three or four male individuals.

The suspects beat and robbed the victim around 2:35 a.m. in the parking lot near 408 N. Lake St., behind Brothers Bar and Grill, according to UW-Madison Police Department Sgt. Aaron Chapin.

Chapin said the victim described the suspects as Asian males between 18 and 25 years old.

The victim suffered injuries serious enough to be treated in a local hospital but has since been released, according to Chapin.

Given the close location to the populated downtown area and time, UWPD are hopeful there may be witnesses who could assist in the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the assault is encouraged to call UWPD Det. Grimyser at (608) 262-7752 or call the Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
